    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is cold process soap?

Cold process soap is created by mixing oils, fats and/or butters with water and lye. Mixing lye with oils causes a chemical reaction called saponification ( the process in which oils become soap).

Is there lye in my soap?

No. The lye in the soap neutralizes during the curing process so there is no lye left in the finished product.

Why is lye used to make soap?

Soap cannot be made without lye. It's a necessary ingredient in order to saponify the oils.

    What is curing?

Curing is the process in which the soap is cut into bars and allowed to sit in a place without humidity and that has free air flow. The average curing time is 4-6 weeks but can be longer depending on personal preference and the recipe used. This is to allow bars to harden, lose excess moisture, and to become milder on the skin. The longer the bar cures the gentler, richer, and creamier the lather becomes.

How should I store my soap?

For a longer lasting bar store your soap in a dish that drains or any dry place.

Tamika, I wish you could see the look on my face and hear my squeals of happiness as I break the seal on the packages I receive from you. The smells! Thank you for the happiness you send out into the world :) I don't buy soap from anyone else since I found you! Thank you for the extra gift too! You are the best!

Haven’t been using any other soap since using hers last year. Amazing as always.

I ordered five soaps in this order, they‘re nice big bars! I wasn’t a fan of the Magnolia & Jasmine scent once it arrived, but of course that is completely a personal opinion. The rest are simply irresistible. Mahogany Mint & Spice in particular is our favorite. You can smell them as soon as you near the room, so once I had spread them to all the bathroom sinks and showers, the whole house became a journey of beautiful scents. Thank you!

THE best handmade soap I have ever used - and I've used a lot and I have even made soap in the past. The scents are strong (I hate barely scented soap!) and when I open the box all the smells flood out and my heart leaps with joy! The orange patchouli is sitting on my desk for a bit because I can't bear to be away from it. I'm not crazy! I just appreciate perfection!
